Van Ryder Games Overview
A cyborg from the future has come back in time on a mission to destroy some kid they call "The Savior". Unfortunately, he's kind of a brat who doesn't want to listen to you... The Mark V Hunter will be your first challenge. You'll have to destroy it before the Mark X Hunter arrives to have any chance of getting through the ordeal alive. Will you rebuild the Mark V to assist you against the Mark X? Or go it alone and try to survive against long odds?
The newly built Sunny Daze Mall is THE place to be! An all-new two-story shopping mall (one of the first of it's kind!) with the most popular stores and a food court like none other. It would be a real shame if people got attacked and thrown through the walls of stores or were tossed from the 2nd floor balcony by some uncontrollable killer.
Horror Movie Classification
Techno-Horror / Sci-Fi Slasher
The primary movie connection is unmistakably The Terminator (1984).
The H.U.N.T.E.R. fills the role of the Terminator: a nearly unstoppable machine sent from the future with one purpose—find its target and eliminate it.
The Final Girl connection is particularly fitting because the original Terminator is structured surprisingly much like a slasher movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 relentlessly stalks Sarah Connor in much the same way a traditional masked killer pursues a Final Girl; the difference is that this particular slasher happens to be a cybernetic assassin from the future.
Sunny Daze Mall brings a little extra '80s flavor to the scenario. While it isn't central to The Terminator, the shopping-mall setting evokes the era beautifully and gives the Feature Film the feeling of an wonderfully over-the-top lost 1980s sci-fi horror movie.
Closest Movie Comparison: The Terminator (1984)
Secondary Movie Comparison: Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), particularly for the franchise's expanded vision of relentless advanced killing machines.
